Project : Playback, Magazine
Abbey Road Studios is the most famous recording studio in the world and a global music icon. It's regarded as the spiritual home of British music and The Beatles' second home. Whilst working for Atticus Digital we were asked to help develop and design a new concept, a magazine/brochure hybrid, with the aim of informing the rest of the world of the latest developments within studio walls, including the multitude of film scores that were recorded with a full orchestra in studio one.
The project was named 'Playback' and my role was as creative lead, I designed all of the original layouts that won the pitch. I went on to design and artwork all future editions from cover to cover, bar a handful of spreads.
The positive feedback exceeded all of our expectations including a lovely note from John Lennon's wife, Yoko Ono saying how much she loved it. The project was great for business, with an influx of new queries. However, the big surprise was how well it improved the staff's interactions and bonds across departments, suddenly they all started talking and sharing more.
Follow the success, we were invited to back to design a high end film festival programme, for the new Abbey Road Film Festival. A handful of lucky people were invited to watch screenings of choice films, which had been scored at the studios.
